A Riding Moment

At one of the dhaba stops on my ride to Lambasingi, Stallion and I were mobbed by the villagers. I patiently answers all their questions about cost, mileage, top speed, etc. As I settled down to enjoy my bhurji and chai, the crowd dispersed and I noticed this old man standing besides the motorcycle watching it intently. He didn’t move a muscle or utter a word in all that time.

As I mounted the motorcycle and cranked the engine to resume my ride he smiled at me and said in Hindi, “Son, looks like you are going far. May God be with you and keep you safe.”

I smiled back, thanked him for his wishes and rode away, knowing that we will never see each other again. It’s simple and inconsequential moments like these that make you smile when riding a motorcycle.
