Dying Mangrove Forest at Merces

This is a dying mangrove forest in Merces on the outskirts of Panaji. The reason for the slow demise of this once beautiful patch of greenery is unclear. Maybe the fact that it lies along the St Cruz bypass, a prime piece of real estate, could offer a possible explanation. The white spiral in the middle is an art installation by an initiative called Amche Mangrove, the purpose of which is to draw the attention of people passing by to what is happening to our mangroves in Goa. My hope is that my drone video will serve the same purpose.
