Ride To White Lake – Day 1

Day 1 of my ride to White Lake in Mongolia. I had never ridden a KTM 450 EXC before. Or any dual sport bike for that matter. I made all sorts of mistakes in the beginning trying to keep up with the lead rider. I went off corners, locked the rear brake and fish tailed the rear of the motorcycle like crazy. I almost came off the bike a few times. But after lunch I decided to go slow, take my time and understand the machine. I eventually got the hang of the motorcycle and then had a blast riding it across the vast steppes of Mongolia.

It was a long day in the saddle. A total of 400 kms, 300 of which were off road. We rode from Ulanbaatar to a ger camp in Khogno Khan nestled at the base of a rocky mountain.
