Hand guards do a good job protecting not just your hands, but also your clutch and brake levers during a fall. That’s why I was surprised that the Impulse, a dual sport motorcycle, didn’t come with hand guards, not even plastic ones.
I also found the handlebar to be a little narrow. A wider handlebar helps when riding on a rocky trail as it provides a greater amount of leverage to keep it straight.
Instead of buying a new handlebar, we decided to solve both these problems by welding a 1.5 inch pipe extension to each end of the handlebar. Then we used anchor fasteners to fit the Acerbis hand guards that were on my Duke.
