The Marsimik La Adventure – Day 5
<< The Marsimik La Adventure – Day 4
All that we needed to do today was reach Pangong Tso. So we woke up late, nursed our hangovers and enjoyed our first proper breakfast in days.
Guru went out to get something fixed on his motorcycle while I tightened the crucial nuts and bolts on mine and did a quick inspection for any obvious problems. We had lunch in Leh and left at 2:00 pm for Pangong Tso. We were in no particular hurry and stopped to take pictures on the way up and down Chang La pass.
As we were riding down Chang La we came across a couple of Guru’s friends from Mumbai who were also making their way to Pangong Tso. One of them had a flat tire and we stopped to help them fix it.
We stopped for tea at Tangtse where we also came across some wild horses.
We finally reached Pangong Tso at 8 pm, checked into a hotel, had dinner along with something that the locals claimed to be Old Monk.
After riding five days at a stretch, making up the two days lost in Chandigarh, getting turned away by the Indian Army in Mahe and eventually taking the Plan B route to reach Pangong Tso from the north, we were finally a few hours away from riding our motorcycles to Marsimik La. On that happy note we hit the sack.
Here is a video of the day’s riding.
