Conversation with Residents of Gurez Valley

Classified as the most militarized zone in the world, Kashmir has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The Indian armed forces have been painted by the media and certain sections of society as an oppressing force that commits atrocities on the local population. Whenever I travel to Kashmir I make it a point to speak to the locals to get a sense of how things really are. Here is my conversation with a family in Gurez valley which runs adjacent to the Line of Control (LOC) with Pakistan.

I usually don’t ask my followers to like and share my videos. But I will make an exception in this case. Please like and share this video with as many people as you can. If you know someone in the media, please tag them and encourage them to visit places like this, talk to the locals and report both sides of the story. The nicer side of the story may not align well with the media’s core business of selling anger, hatred and frustration. But it is a side that needs to be told. Because it is the rule, not the exception.
